The lady seemed kind and willing to help with things around the accommodation, but she never told us that the family staying before us had a serious stomach bug and ended up in a local hospital. She also said they’d left a terrible mess, which makes me wonder what condition the place was in. That information mattered, because my whole family came down with the same bug and our holiday was ruined. A proper deep clean might have prevented it. There was dirt on the ventilator, under the beds, and beneath the couch. At the very least, we should have been warned to take extra care. Adults can cope, but having a one-year-old and a four-year-old throwing up is no way to spend a holiday. The building materials left around the property and the lack of a fence also made it feel unsafe for children.
