The pool setup is the big downside for me. Sunbeds cost 10 euros a day each, and while the pools are technically free, you're not allowed to walk on the grass and the whole area around them is filled with loungers. In practice, that makes it very hard to use the pools without paying for sunbeds. For a family of four staying a week, that's another €280. Calling the pools free feels like a lot when it works out that way. I think guests who have already paid for their campsite stay should either have sunbeds included, or there should be room to lay out a towel or blanket. We haven't seen this at any other campground, and it feels like an intentional way to get a considerable amount of extra money from guests. This is a major drawback. Without it, we'd have rated the place very well, but as things stand we probably won't return unless it changes. Apart from that, the campsite was really nice and well maintained. The cottages were new, clean, and pleasant, and there were two pool areas, one with heated pools. The green spaces were lovely, the restrooms excellent, and there were lots of children's play areas. There was also a nice path with restaurants, shops, and a bakery, and the Studenak (Studenak) is inside the campground with normal prices. The large beach is partly shaded and has walkways.

The greenery and natural setting are still beautiful, which is the one thing that kept this from getting just one star. But it was a huge letdown to see what Zaton has become. I first visited 28 years ago with my parents, when it felt special. Now the reception is mostly unfriendly, with a few exceptions, and every visit there means at least half an hour waiting. Our check-in and caravan setup took three hours. The pitch was too small for our caravan, awning and car, even though we were told to park the car there. And the access for disabled guests still hasn't improved. We raised years ago that the ramp is no use without a proper water wheelchair, but there still isn't one. Other campsites with fewer stars have an aqualift. Here, we had to use the boat entrance to get into the sea, which was slippery and dangerous, and the disabled toilet was very dirty. With so many guests coming through, it feels like they don't care whether people return. Such a disappointment for a place with this much potential.

Kids love all the things to do and the five pools, but you have to pay for everything. The place is massive and gets mega crowded. Everything is far apart, so people are constantly using electric scooters. Maybe I sound like an old fart, but it feels dangerous with little kids walking around and young kids riding e-scooters at 25. With so many people, it also feels pretty impersonal and anonymous, and the crowd isn't the best.

We couldn't sleep with all the noise right beside our pitch. There was construction going on constantly, grass being mowed all day, and dogs barking. Some people had three to five dogs or even more, with fences around them. The scenery is lovely, the sandy beach is nice, and the toilets and showers were very clean. There were relatively few tourists at this point in the season, too. Still, if you want a quiet place to rest, I wouldn't recommend this campsite, even early in the season. That's why I gave it two stars.

There are lots of playgrounds, pools and activities for kids, plus restaurants and markets right in the camp. The beach and sea views are beautiful, and there are many historic cities nearby to visit. A lovely place on earth, with more than 500 pitches. The toilets are clean and new.
