Apartment Chillout House Novalja

The owner’s a top guy, really helpful. We had an incredible stay, and it was well worth the money.

The location is the one good thing: right in the center of Novalja. It still couldn’t make up for the state of the apartment, especially at the price. We expected MUCH better. This place needs renovating before it’s rented again, and the price is still too high. We arrived in two cars, but despite the listing saying parking was available, there was none. The owners couldn’t even tell us where to park for free. The apartment was dirty when we got there, and the owner explained nothing, not even how to operate the boiler or sort the rubbish. The fridge didn’t cool for the first day and a half. We emailed to ask when someone could come, but never got a reply. The first-day shower was freezing too. We didn’t realize the boiler was off, so we worked out how to turn it on ourselves. There are no bins outside. The owners took the rubbish away on the last day, leaving us with it in the dining room for a week. It smelled, took up space, and attracted ants. For cleaning, there was only dish soap and a broom so dirty it couldn’t clean anything. Half the furniture was broken. The kitchen sink was coming away from the wall, and the drawers and shelves were unstable. The shower leaked and left a pool on the floor after every use. Two of the five beds were broken, with half the slats on each coming loose at the slightest movement. One friend woke up with back pain; another had to sleep with the mattress on the floor because the bed was impossible to lie on. The photos make the apartment look like it’s on two levels, but it’s actually laid out over four very uncomfortable floors, with just one room on each. The terrace is at the very top, reached by a very steep ladder with almost no rungs. Its door was broken and wouldn’t close all the way. The terrace didn’t look like the photos either. The awning, half the deck chairs, and the drying rack were broken and left lying to one side instead of being thrown away.
