We left the apartment spotless and undamaged, but the owner, Robert, still took €60 from our deposit. He brought this up at checkout, but didn’t come to meet us or discuss it. Instead, he left the matter in writing with the housekeeper, who was left helpless with the empty deposit envelope. When I called him, he first denied taking the money, then said there’d been confusion and he wasn’t sure we were responsible. Half an hour into the call, he mentioned a police report that was supposedly missing, saying we’d been fined. He also pointed out that our return bus was about to leave. To avoid dealing with any personal complaints, he then disappeared. You’re expected to be quiet, and apparently you can’t go out on the balcony after 10 PM. The neighbours called the police at 10:10 AM.

The hosts made us feel welcome right away, and the place had a cozy feel thanks to the nice furnishings. Everything was very clean, and our stay went beyond what we expected. We’d happily book here again.

It’s a nice base for a beach holiday, though there isn’t much else to see on this very touristy island. The rooms were small, and the old beds kept creaking. The sheets felt like plastic, and the few kitchen utensils provided weren’t in great shape. There were irritating comments from the owners almost every day, with something always supposedly wrong, like the music or the time, even though we behaved ourselves. We were only asked about the tourist tax at the last minute before arrival, and no invoice was given. At the end, they demanded a cleaning fee that hadn’t been mentioned beforehand, then sent accusatory texts after we got home. While quickly cleaning the floor, I even found someone else’s jewelry under the bed. Never again.

We had a wonderful time in a lovely apartment. The staff were really friendly and pointed us toward some excellent restaurants. I’d gladly recommend it.
