Hotel Kaneo

We left a night early because we were fed up, and there were no other rooms available. They didn't offer any kind of refund either. On arrival, the room, bar area, and hallways were dirty. The AC didn't work, and for three nights they only changed the minimum temperature in the system, which made no difference. For the first two nights, a terrible perfume-like smell came through the HVAC. After that faded, the room smelled like mold, mildew, or something rotting in the system. Parking was barely sufficient, and there was an active construction site right next door. This was the most poorly run hotel I've experienced while traveling outside the US. Don't stay here.

This place seems suited to young people going to Zrće, though that's probably true of all Novalja. The location is handy, right by the beach and near the town center, and parking was easy. Our room was clean and decent. Breakfast doesn't start until 9:00 AM, which seems set around the schedule of guests partying all night 😄. Our “sea view” was from the side, not straight out, and construction next door made the area look chaotic and untidy.

The location is great, but we really doubt this is a genuine four-star place. The room cleaning was poor, when anyone came at all, and the shower, toilet, TV, AC, and jacuzzi were broken or not working. The breakfast was always the same and poor. A three-person room meant two beds and an armchair, and the SeaView apartment faced sideways instead of giving a front view of the sea. Everything else felt cheap, dirty, or broken. We truly didn't expect this and can't recommend it.

The value was amazing, and the staff were ready to do anything for us. The location is unbelievable. There were three of us, and our room could easily have fit five. We were surprised by how gorgeous the rooms and bathrooms were, since the photos don't do them justice. The beds were so comfortable, with nice sheets too. We'll definitely be back xx
