Laguna Maradiso Hotel by Aminess

The hotel's location is amazing, right on the beach, and Novigrad is only a 15-minute walk along the shore. Breakfast and dinner were very good, and the rooms were spotless. They're a little dated, though, and could use some renovation. We'll definitely come back.

We had a lovely stay, though I was sorry it was just one night. The staff were all friendly, and I was surprised by how good the hotel and its services were. The buffet dinner was sensational, with a huge, varied selection, and the buffet breakfast was included with the room. Dejan at reception was welcoming, helpful and informative to both me and my dog. He's also able to speak English. Dogs are welcome for a modest extra fee. The hotel is very close to the clean sea, where you can swim, and there are things to do nearby, including mini-golf, a children's playground, bike hire, a small market and a few bars and restaurants. The nearest town is a bit of a distance away, but easy to reach by bike or car. My room was basic and a little small, but functional, clean and comfortable, well suited to one or two nights. The double bed was neither too hard nor too soft, so I slept well. It had a private bathroom and a small balcony with a basic table and chairs. The shower cubicle was tiny, but usable, with plenty of hot water and complimentary bath gel. There's a good-sized carpark at €3 per vehicle per day, plus a large clean pool. The restaurant serves buffet dinners with beer, wine and soft drinks included. Dejan told me at check-in that booking dinner in advance on arrival would cost only €3 extra per buffet per night, which was fantastic value. There's also a large bar and a small games room for children, with a free pool table and coin-operated games machines. Highly recommended!

The Wi-Fi at Laguna Hotel was extremely disappointing, especially on the third floor. It kept dropping out and was so slow that basic things like browsing, email, streaming, checking messages or using travel apps were a struggle.

For the price, the quality was very good, and I think we'll come back next time. The room was the one drawback: with our child there, we had to step over his bed to open or close the window.
