Palazzo Rainis Hotel & Spa

The room never cooled down, which was our one real problem. We visited in May, before the AC had been turned on. Each day we were told it would be done, and on the last day they said it was on, but our room still wasn’t cool. We had to sleep with the doors open, and could hear the Lighthouse festival’s techno music booming all night. Aside from that, we had a wonderful stay. The rooms were clean, elegant and comfortable, and having a balcony to sit on and take in the views was lovely. From the hotel you can see the marina, city and sea. It’s a pleasant 15-minute walk from the busy main part of Novigrad, and the location was perfect for enjoying town or stepping away from it while using the hotel as a base for exploring the area. The staff were great. Mariana helped arrange massages and gave us recommendations for an Olive Oil tour. She also thoughtfully packed sandwiches and fruit for our early departure. Sara, the outside masseuse, was outstanding and gave massages in the hotel’s massage room. In the mornings, Ben was incredibly kind and looked after us each day. His Eggs Benedict were heaven on a plate, and he knew exactly how to make the double espresso latte that made my wife smile at the first sip. We were glad we’d heard about the hotel through its participation in Mr&Mrs Smith. If you book a massage, ask for Sara.

The hotel staff were what made our three-night birthday getaway feel so special. When we arrived, they served us a glass of wine while checking us in, and the receptionist kindly made a dinner reservation and gave us lovely recommendations. Every interaction felt warm and focused on guests, and we felt more than at home. My partner and I stayed at the Palazzo. The spacious room with its sea view was impeccable, and breakfast was delicious, with pretty much anything you could want, even steak. Our only downside was having to leave, since we wanted to stay longer. I can wholeheartedly recommend it if you’re after a blissful few days in Croatia’s beautiful northern peninsula.

Beautiful building in a lovely location in Novigrad/Cittanova, with very friendly and attentive staff. The breakfast was excellent, and we also enjoyed the food and drinks. It’s just a two-minute walk to the beach and a 10-15 minute stroll into town. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m in the area.

We celebrated our wedding at Palazzo Rainis, then had a meal at Chemistry restaurant after the ceremony. The food was absolutely amazing, and so was the staff. The hotel reception workers were super nice and helpful too. We’ll definitely return to Palazzo Rainis.
