The outside of the property looks really nice, but our disappointment began as soon as we went inside. The rooms were dirty when we arrived. In the children’s room and bedroom, the cupboards had such a thick coat of dust you could draw in it with a finger. There was just as much dust on top of the bedroom bed. Under a child’s bed we found a tissue, apparently left by earlier guests or possibly there even longer. One outlet in the children’s room had a broken cover. The bathroom water heater leaked constantly, so we had to keep emptying the bowl beneath it instead of having a plumber fix it. There were drain flies in several parts of the apartment, and I removed them. They’re associated with stagnant, polluted water, canals and similar places, and are harmful to health. The fly screens on the windows didn’t close properly along the bottom. The kitchen screen had holes on both sides, and the bedroom one was broken and unusable. We booked through booking.com, where the apartment was advertised with air conditioning. A month before we arrived, we were told we had supposedly booked a unit without it, though that wasn’t stated in the confirmation. The ground-floor apartment we got had only two rooms with beds, no usable living room or lounge. If the weather was bad, or early in the day, there was nowhere to sit except on the beds. There was no TV downstairs, and no microwave in the kitchen for quickly heating food. The terrace was advertised, but it was in full sun with no parasol. The two wooden benches out there weren’t comfortable either, one had a badly crooked leg. There was also an old Hollywood swing by the table, repaired several times, presumably to make it usable for guests, while the owner has a new one at home. Great job. The kitchen was supposedly well equipped, but we found it inadequate. The coffee maker didn’t work properly: it could make five cups, but after 25 minutes it was only halfway done. The extractor hood had no filters. The kitchen sink had only cold water and no plug for hand-washing dishes. There were exactly four large plates, four soup plates, four forks, five knives and five spoons. All three large paring knives were blunt. The three pots and one frying pan were only 20 cm across. There wasn’t even a broom to leave the apartment a bit tidy. The free Wi-Fi barely worked anywhere but the hallway. There was no signal on the terrace, the only place for the family to gather. In both bedrooms it was so weak there was barely one bar, and moving the wrong way made it disappear, so the connection was unusable. The parking space sits directly under the first-floor balcony, where a clothesline sticks out. Salt water dripping from swimming gear hung there left unsightly, damaging stains on the car. I could go on for hours, but this gives you an idea of how poor the experience was. The apartment completely ruined our vacation.

You get what you pay for here, and everything matched the description. The hosts were especially kind and helpful. I’d definitely recommend the apartment.
