Maiden Apartments

Our car broke down, so we couldn’t make it, even though we notified them at very short notice and the cancellation deadline had passed. The hotel showed no goodwill at all. Another example of what feels like a Croatian rip-off.

I’ve visited Croatia many times, but this was my favorite place.

The terrace had a lovely view, and the kitchen appliances were fairly new and worked well. Still, the bathrooms are old, with showers that badly need renovation. One bathroom has no natural light or ventilation. There’s just one air conditioner in the hallway for the whole apartment, which isn’t enough, and the floors weren’t fully clean. There were no insect screens, so mosquitoes got into the room. The apartment is in a quiet spot, but the supermarket is quite far away. The rooms are functionally furnished. The owners weren’t there when we arrived or left, and we communicated by email. You have to pay well in advance, so you expect certain standards that are common elsewhere, and unfortunately they weren’t met here. If I came back to the area, I’d look for somewhere else. What a shame.

The landlords were really nice, and the apartment itself was great. But the floor was dirty. I noticed because I like wearing white socks, and they got grubby pretty quickly.
