The gardens around the property are lush and full of flowers, and the couple who look after the place clearly know their plants. It smells lovely throughout. The pool is small and cool, just right for taking a break from sunbathing. We had what I think was the best apartment, with cracking views from a high balcony. The climb up the stairs was worth it. Inside, there was powerful air conditioning, a decent-sized fridge, microwave, kettle and hob, though oddly no toaster. The old fella brought us cold beers and OJ when we arrived, cheers! No complaints, just watch your head when standing up from the loo, gents.

We had quite a big group, so we got to enjoy the whole villa to ourselves. The atmosphere was pleasant, with a view of the Adriatic Sea from our iris' balcony. Every room had air conditioning, which helped a lot in the heat. A few rooms felt dated, but everything was well cared for and very clean. The owners live in the villa, but were lovely and gave us our privacy. Anita even brought a cake for the birthday celebrant, and the housekeeper was friendly too. The pool was clean and a good size, and the beach is only a few yards away. The supermarket and bakery are a 15-20 minute walk, though the hills and hot weather made it feel much farther.

That little island we stayed on was bliss, so peaceful and unspoilt, and the perfect place to relax for the first time in ages. Some of it is a little dated. I was there 35 years ago, when Split was lovely, and it's a shame tourism has ruined the place.

The villa is in a handy spot near a local beach, and the owners are very friendly. There's a nice pool and outdoor area, though a few of the facilities could use an upgrade.
