Camping Omisalj

The pitches are roomy and well laid out, with beautiful sea views, and the beach is only a few steps away. Camp Omišalj has modern, clean, well-kept facilities, including the sanitary blocks and pool area. There’s plenty on site, from a restaurant and shop to sports and entertainment for kids. It’s a five-star campsite in a great beachside spot, and a very comfortable, relaxing holiday option for families, couples or anyone looking for quality camping on Krk Island.

We visited in late September and early October, and I can’t think of anything negative to say about Camping Omišalj. The facilities were spotless, and the cleaning staff worked constantly. The staff were wonderful too. Based on our stay, I’d recommend the site to anyone.

I stayed one night in November and could pick any pitch I wanted. It was low season, so both the shop and restaurant were closed. The sanitary facilities were clean, though the open-sided, roofed design made them cold to use in chilly weather.

The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the beach is lovely and very well looked after. The buildings have elegant, wonderful designs, while the cafeteria and pool are high standard. Facilities are cleaned throughout the day. Still, the upkeep feels neglected. The sanitary areas are spotless, but rust, mould and cracks haven’t been repaired, and the showers can go from burning hot to freezing on the same setting. Some pitches are in dreadful shape for the price. Both of the “Gold” pitches in my photos cost the same, but one is beautifully maintained with a coastal view and the other is barely Stellplatz quality. In some cases “Silver” is considerably nicer than “Gold”, so check the pitch before choosing. I can’t say why, but the place has no vibe and feels loveless. It seems they got investment to reopen in 2018, then lost planned revenue when Covid hit two years later. Now it feels as though further investment is on hold until the site turns a profit. It’s a shame. They need more funding for handymen, gardeners, motivators and the like. Reputation matters, and it would be a shame if Camping Omišalj suffered later because nothing is done now. You can see the petrochemical plant in the distance, and a few planes pass each day. Both are obvious on Google Maps, so shouldn’t be a surprise, but neither affected our stay.
