Amadria Park Hotel Continental

It’s peaceful, quiet, and clean. The hotel isn’t right by the sea, though you can see part of it. A nice experience, recommended.

The room’s balcony offered a sea view, though it was partly blocked, and the hotel is in a nice location. But for such a costly stay, the problems piled up. We arrived on a motorcycle and asked about parking. They suggested a paid garage, and staff said they didn’t know whether free street parking was available. That was surprising, since motorcycle parking was less than 20 metres away beside a grocery store. The key card kept failing whenever we left the room. I had to visit reception seven times over two days to get it fixed, and nobody offered to replace the cards or move us to another room. The cleaning service was the worst part. Cleaning was mandatory every day, and if you were in the room when staff arrived, they asked you to leave. No daytime nap or staying in your room, apparently. When we said we didn’t want cleaning, the cleaner told us we had to leave anyway. On day two, we returned to find the door wide open and cleaning supplies on the floor. Nobody was inside, so the room had simply been left open after cleaning. We put the supplies outside the door, but they weren’t collected until the next day. If we’d returned later, the door could have stayed open all day. I’d only suggest this place to someone with low expectations who wants an ocean view and is willing to pay a very high price.

Anita at reception was a delight each of the three days we saw her. She checked us in quickly, offered sparkling wine and cookies, and explained the beach, the seaside path, and other useful things. The room was lovely and clean, but hot. Since we arrived in late September, the air conditioning had already been turned off. Manager Patricija came by herself and offered us a cooler room. We moved and got a very large fan. With that and the windows open most of the night, we slept well enough. The street side can be noisy, so I assume the sea-facing side is quieter.

Breakfast was a highlight, with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, and the woman preparing it was the nicest person we met on our holiday. The restaurant and cafe were pleasant too, and guests get a discount. Everyone we encountered was kind and ready to help. Our room had a lovely sea view and worked well for our little family, since it was split into two rooms. We had a nice stay, though one room had no wardrobe, so we couldn’t unpack there and had to keep using the grandparents’ room. The air conditioning was the main drawback. It barely worked, and when it reached 30 degrees outside, the room became unbearably hot.
