Astoria Hotel Opatija****

Andrija in the restaurant made a real difference to my stay. I was travelling alone, and he went out of his way to help me feel comfortable and welcome. He’s a very kind young man and clearly takes pride in his work. The hotel itself was lovely, with clean rooms, excellent food and plenty of choice. The location was fantastic, and all the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. I’d highly recommend it, especially for the value.

We stayed five days with our dog, and the hotel being pet-friendly puts it high on my list. Our room was clean, air-conditioned and had a balcony. Breakfast and dinner were plentiful, with lots of different dishes, fish every day, fruit and cakes. It’s a nice little place, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, restaurants and everything else we wanted to see in Opatija. Parking spaces are limited, though I was lucky to get one, and it cost less than public parking. For two people and our dog, including room, breakfast, dinner and parking, we paid 97 Euro per person for the five days. That seems cheap to me. Dinner alone for one person would be 25-35 Euro, so you see my point? 😉👍😊😊

The food was excellent, and we’d stay here again. It’s in the second row from the sea, and rooms on floor 3+ have a nice view. Our room was clean and everything worked perfectly, though it could use a little renovation. You can’t reserve the parking they offer, so keep in mind there’s also public parking.

We booked three nights after calling about the air conditioning. We were assured it worked and understood that opening the patio doors would switch it off automatically. When we arrived, the room was warm. The unit was running, but it was loud and didn’t seem to cool much. Luckily the weather was cooler, so we left the windows open. We asked reception several times about the AC. They said someone would come, but nobody did. The hair dryer in one of our rooms was broken too, and after they said they’d check it, no one came for that either. By day two we stopped asking. We’re leaving tomorrow, and I’m glad. The reception ladies didn’t seem honest or authentic. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel.
