The room is shared with the couple who rent it, which may not suit anyone uncomfortable staying in someone else's home. Still, the price is reasonable for a one-night stay, and the staff are friendly and speak a little Italian. It's right on Opatija's main street. Parking costs extra: you can pay by the hour in the blue-lined spaces outside, or follow the owner's directions to park along the main street about a kilometer away for €5.

The room is in a small home with friendly, helpful older hosts who speak some Italian. It's clean and air-conditioned, with twin beds that can be made into a double, a refrigerator, and the other basic furniture. There's also a small garden. The place is on Opatija's main street, within walking distance of everything, so it works well for a night or two. A paid municipal lot is nearby, or the owner can direct you to all-day parking 600 meters away for €5, paid directly to them.

That dog was a nightmare, constantly growling and barking. The tiny private room was filthy and so disgusting there wasn't even space for the bath towels, which had to hang from the window handle. We complained strongly, but it still wasn't cleaned once during our ten days there, and we had to take out the trash ourselves. There was no terrace. We could sit at the owner's garden table, but he was always sitting there too.

We only booked for one night through Airbnb, and the location was great, very close to the center. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and they offered us a nearby parking spot as part of the price, which was a great option.
