Hotel Admiral

The staff made the stay from beginning to end, always nearby and ready to help, with a warm smile when we arrived. We’ll be back! 😃👍 This hotel is a great place to switch off for a while. Every room faces the sea and the beautiful islands of Krk and Cres, and you can hear the waves, with seagulls now and then. Our room was spacious and well kept, with WiFi, a nice bathroom, a safe, and more. The hotel has an indoor pool with mixed sea water, a massage area, a handy gym, and saunas. Breakfast was served in sections and had lots to choose from, including fruit, cold cuts, salads, desserts, coffee, and juices. The hotel sits by the sea, and a long promenade gets you to the center of Opatija in 5-6 minutes on foot. You can park in the hotel garage or right by the entrance. Both options were available to us.

The sea view from the hotel is stunning, and the place was very clean. My husband and I especially enjoyed the spa. The pool water was really warm, and there are spots to lie back and relax. 🌞 We went on a weekday morning when it was very quiet, though more people showed up after lunch.

The friendly, professional staff and the excellent food and service were the saving graces here. The hotel charged far too much for what it offered. The rooms were in terrible shape, with peeling plaster, broken furniture, dirty bedding, and moldy bathroom grout. The pool was in a similarly poor state. This is nowhere near four-star quality. Management needs to start a full renovation if the hotel is going to keep charging so much with its current image.

We stayed one night with half board, and the food was pretty good, with plenty of fresh local choices. The mattress was comfortable, too. But the air conditioning wouldn't switch off, and the room was too cold. Maintenance came to try to fix it without fully sorting it out, so we kept the window open. Parking costs 25 euros, the same as public blue-zone parking. The hotel garage is another option, for a few bucks more.
