Hotel Kristal - Liburnia

The view is nice, and breakfast was good, but the hotel itself is old and banged up. Our keycards stopped working twice, prices were astronomical even in September, and parking was a nightmare and felt like a robbery. The so-called beach in front is a crumbling concrete area, with ice-cold water from underwater springs. Umbrellas and deck chairs cost ice-cold prices too.

Some staff were downright rude, and the place felt dull and lacking in charm. For a four-star hotel, the stay came across more like two stars and fell well short of what I expected. There were plenty of promises, but nothing delivered. I'd avoid it and spend the money elsewhere. In general, steer clear of Liburnia hotels and find somewhere with real quality.

The oceanfront view is great, but that was the only good part for me. This hotel feels like the unwanted dog in the company's portfolio. The front desk staff seemed not to care, and the restaurant staff looked like they hated their jobs. The furnishings in both the room and public areas felt like my grandmother's unwanted pieces. The room was very hot. I understand the heating system was still on seasonally, but this happens every year and they should be prepared. I asked reception for a fan, and they had none. It's a big hotel company that doesn't care about guests. I'm sad our group will be back in September, since this was the worst hotel of our wonderful Croatian tour.

The hotel sits right by the water, and the location is perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the Wi-Fi was fast. You can also use it in many parts of the city near their other hotels. Breakfast was okay, and the rooms were big enough and clean, though very old. The hotel badly needs renovation. Parking was a big problem. We chose this place because we expected free parking, but the small lot couldn't accommodate the hotel's capacity. With spaces assigned first come, first served, we had to pay 20 euro for one night. They also charge for sunbeds and umbrellas, which isn't okay.
