Apartments Costa Rica

Back for the fourth year running. Great place, close to the beach, what more can I say?

The apartment is well equipped and generally well kept, with a great Adriatic view from the balcony. My only real complaint is the water: pressure in the taps and shower is a gamble, and I don't know whether there's a local supply issue or something else. If you're patient, I'd recommend it.

We came back again this year. The apartments are clean and the staff are friendly, with sea views on one side and mountains on the other. What else do you need?

The location is great, and Orebic itself is wonderful, but I wouldn't recommend this place if you want a stress-free holiday. We first stayed as a couple and had no problems: the apartment was clean and everything worked, so we were clearly lucky. Later we returned with friends, four families in four apartments, including the largest ground-floor one, after recommending it to them. The more we looked, the more issues we found. The three-bedroom apartment had just one key, which made going out a logistical mess for two couples. The owner and cleaning ladies couldn't arrange another during the whole trip. Toilet seats came loose, bathroom doors stuck, bags from other tourists had been left behind, and there was loads of dust under the beds. When we reported another issue, the cleaning ladies seemed fed up with us and got rude and unkind. They even started childish complaints about us to the owner 😆. The owner lives far away, so they're the only ones there who actually "handle" things. The owner seemed lovely and helpful at first. But after we sent photos and reminded him about one problem after another, he started attacking us (!) and threatening to keep our passport, saying we had probably caused the damage, or that we'd blocked the bathroom door in the apartment for the next 5-7 days. You had to use a knife through the crack to open it. Maybe you'll find the place just right, but it can also be a real pain. We'll never set foot there again. :)
