What made Hotel Maksimilian so special for us was the people. Yasmina and Vladimir were incredibly kind, and Dora, Gordana, and Filip looked after us so well and made us feel welcome in Croatia. We were moving to Osijek from Florida and stayed for a handful of nights. We had plenty of questions about the city, the people, their customs, the food, and everything else. We appreciated how much time they spent explaining things and how enthusiastically they spoke about their homeland. The property, rooms, and amenities were spectacular, and this precious place is easy to recommend. It's a beautiful gem in the middle of the historic fort.

The people at Maksimilian have a real human touch and are beyond friendly. They can help with information, or even rakija, and you feel at home there. Set in Osijek's old town, it's a handy way to experience what the town has to offer. The hotel takes the form of an old Slavonian house, or homestead, arranged as a modern boutique hotel that blends old and new. Rooms are clean, cozy, and nice, and the breakfast spread is rich and tasty. I'll come back.

The setting is lovely, right by the river for morning walks and among the bars and cafes in the fortress. The courtyard is beautiful, and there are bikes to hire, a little bar, and a laundry service. Breakfast is included, with eggs cooked by the chef however you like. The rooms are quaint, special, and well serviced. We got a very friendly welcome, and the whole stay was an absolute treat. If you're wondering whether to book, just do it. You won't regret it.

Being in famous "Tvrđa" feels like stepping back in time. The family-run hotel is extraordinary, the staff are exceptional, and its adorable café is a lovely place to relax. Thanks so much for making everything awesome.

The hotel has a comfortable, home-like feel, and breakfast is freshly prepared by the owner to suit what you like. The location is very nice, with free parking right in front, which is extremely convenient when travelling to or from the Croatian coast. I'd definitely return.
