We came to unwind, and Anamaria Apartments was just right for that. It’s a quiet, family-run place, neat as a pin, with a balcony that’s lovely for a morning coffee. From there, you can walk the worn path through old vineyard walls to steps overlooking Gran Pag and that clear sapphire-blue water. There are secluded sandy and rocky beaches where you can spend hours snorkeling along the shore. Bring sunscreen. For dinner or a walk around the historic seaside town of Gran Pag, it’s a quick drive. The Pag Solana has been drawing fresh salt straight from the water since Roman times. The apartments are great for relaxing and reading, though the town has nightlife too. We also got to enjoy an Acapella competition between towns, with amazing voices. If you ask nicely, Simi may bring over some of his handmade Pag Island cheese for a reasonable price. You might want to give him a little extra for delivering it. And if you take the time to visit with the Rakamarić family, you won’t be disappointed. Anamaria is the go-to photographer on The Island of Pag, and her work is beautiful.

The apartment didn’t look like the photos. It wasn’t very clean, and we had the pleasure of sharing the place with cockroaches. The Rakamarić family first asked us for a 100 euro deposit, then kept 50 for noise, even though we were out dancing every night. I don’t recommend it.

We had a lovely holiday. The apartment isn’t very big, but it suited us since we only needed somewhere to sleep and have breakfast. For the price it was perfectly fine, with OK beds, a fridge and freezer, a terrace and air conditioning. You’ll want a car for shopping. The toilet flush and shower could use some repairs.

There were cockroaches all over the apartment. The family had asked us for a €100 deposit at first, then kept €50 at the end for the mess, even though we’d gone dancing every night. Sorry for withholding money. Italians, I DO NOT recommend it!!!!!!!!!!
