We booked through Booking.com and couldn't understand the positive reviews. The worst discovery came on day six, when the kids' room smelled awful. Inside the wardrobe there was mold that looked old, and the landlord seemed to know about it because a dehumidifier was sitting on top. The landlords had tried to clean it by the time we came back to move our things to the new apartment we'd booked. All we could smell was chlorine and air freshener. We told both Booking.com and the owner, but still haven't had a proper reply from Booking.com. The apartment was unpleasant from the start. It smelled bad, dishes in the cupboard had cobwebs on them, the whole floor was sticky, and there were ants in the bathroom. Spiders were in every corner. The air conditioning didn't work properly, and we couldn't get any German TV channels. The towels looked like old, discarded stock, so we washed all the bedding and towels as soon as we arrived. Some vacation.
