Sunnyside Apartments Petrčane

The workers at the resort were really nice and helpful, and Petrčane is lovely. I especially recommend the pancakes and mini croissants, they were the best! I enjoyed my stay, though I’d give it 3.5 stars because a few things bothered me. Dinner started too late for me, and I was starving while waiting. The food tasted good, but after a few days the same dishes got boring. The pool water was freezing, and I never saw anyone actually swimming there. Also, opening the house door was so difficult it became my worst nightmare.

The apartments are pretty basic, but they worked for a family with small children, and the beach area itself is fine. The beach bar food was decent for what it is, though it only serves until 18:00. I booked partly because a restaurant was listed as part of the offer, but it’s closed now. The apartment floors were so dirty that after five minutes walking barefoot while unpacking, my feet were filthy. The pool and beach are connected to the apartments, and there’s a gate where the chip bracelet gets you in. But about 30 meters farther on, there’s another gate where people are supposed to pay, and nobody was there during our seven days. So the supposedly private beach is effectively public, with locals and guests from the huge hotels next door using it. After 11, the sunbeds are all taken, and people leave towels on them all day even when they’re away. I understand that more people means more beach bar sales, but it’s unfair to customers paying for private beach access. It’s not a bad place, but the misleading offer and lack of respect for paying guests cost it three stars. Otherwise I’d have given it four.

The apartment was very dirty, with ants everywhere. The beach has also been left in terrible shape. I visited seven years ago and it was much better then, with big rocks covering the whole entrance to the sea and no pleasant way to get in. Please think carefully and skip this accommodation. I’d never recommend it.

The apartment is spacious, simple, and thoughtfully laid out, though the cleaning could be better. The pool area is lovely. Zadar is a bit far, so you’ll need a car or an Uber, which is easy enough to find. Breakfast and dinner were simple and not very tasty, so I wouldn’t choose the food again. Still, I had a good experience.
