Plitvica Lodge

We left hungry after paying 35 euros each for food that didn’t come close to the price. Our soup was tasteless, the cake was small, and the meat dish was mostly fat with hardly any meat. At the restaurant, someone outside the B&B had told us they were preparing slow-cooked lamb, supposedly only made twice a month. But when we asked for the menu, we were told there were just two choices, fish or meat. This restaurant feels like a tourist trap. The rating of 4.6 at the time may reflect the lodge. Take your car and eat somewhere about 15 minutes away.

Bring cash, since they don’t take credit cards. The dinner was described as mixed meats and came with bread and vegetables, with about half a dozen kinds of barbecue. It was excellent. The rooms and location were just as good, and the owner was nice. This is an insanely nice B&B, and we’ll definitely return.

The location is perfect, really close to the park, and the room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed. The people running the place were so kind and helpful that we actually missed them after moving on to the next part of our trip. We stayed here on our honeymoon in Croatia, and it was one of our favorite stops. The home-cooked food and atmosphere were lovely, and their suggestions for other activities were all excellent. 10/10!

My wife and I stopped for dinner, and the owner came out to greet us and seat us. There was no menu, just two choices, meat or fish. We ordered one of each without asking the price first, and only found out later that they cost €33 each, cash only. The cash-only policy wasn’t mentioned at the start. Water was €6 and a small beer was 4 euros. With no menu, we assumed the prices would be reasonable. The food was OK, but when we finished, the owner said they only accepted cash. I only had a credit card, so he told me to use an ATM, which charged a 25% exchange rate premium. In the end, the two dinners, water, and beer cost us 100 euros. Tourist trap, avoid.
