Hotel Jezero Plitvice Lakes

The hotel is in a great spot, though it feels old. The shower door design meant the whole restroom got wet every time I showered, so watch out for that. Dinner buffet costs $30 per person, drinks not included, and kids pay the same; breakfast is $18. They use room keys with a big keychain instead of cards, and you can leave the key at the desk. When I asked to get it back, no one checked my ID or anything 🙄

We had a very good three-night stay at Hotel Jezero in late January, and it felt like good value for a three-star hotel. Our Lake room with a balcony was warm and comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and there was plenty of hot water. Reception staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, with a short, pretty walk to Entrance 2 and the boat across the lake; the road train goes to Entrance One. Other restaurants and cafes are nearby, too. We ate at the A La Carte restaurant twice. The trout was very good, and breakfast from the buffet was good as well. The vegetarian choices were very limited, and the cheese uses animal rennet, so it isn't vegetarian. Staff knew about that. A note for the Chef: vegetarian cheese made with Microbiological Rennet is available. The bar stays open all day and sells cakes and rolls if you get hungry. One travel detail: we took Flixbus/Arriva Bus, and the stop is 600 metres away along the road. The hotel offers a courtesy ride from 7am, but we had to leave earlier. If you walk that road, use your phone torch so drivers can see you.

We spent four nights from 10th May at this three-star hotel, and found it fine for its rating. We skipped the standard buffet dinner and ate each evening at the Waterfall "al la carte " restaurant. It's a spacious room, so booking isn't really necessary, though we reserved a table to get the spot we wanted. The meals and evenings were enjoyable, and the waitstaff gave us personal attention, especially Marianna. Sometimes several diners arrived close together without bookings, putting the team under a lot of pressure. Having extra staff available at those times would help everyone. The pool and wellness area are a little hidden, but they're nice. The rooms were clean, the staff kind, and the hotel is right beside the park's second entrance, which makes it easy to get out into nature. Breakfast was the letdown. Both mornings at 7:30, the dishes that should have been warm, including eggs, sausages, bacon, mushrooms and pancakes, were already cold. That service needs improvement.
