Dalmatia Dream Podstrana - The Residence

We were really happy with the hotel and had a great apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a powder room. The view was amazing, and breakfast was always good and served right on time. It’s ideal for most families, especially those with small kids. There are several nice restaurants nearby and a grocery shop across the street. We’ll come back.

Before arriving, I’d read lots of glowing reviews about hotel «Residence» and expected things to go well. We’d booked a bright, spacious 52 m2 one-bedroom apartment with panoramic windows, but were given a much smaller, dark apartment, presumably at least 14 m2 less. It had small windows, a 10m2 bedroom, and a huge overhanging balcony. At check-in the receptionist didn’t explain anything, just showed us to the room and quickly disappeared. There was no explanation, apology, offer of an upgrade, or other compensation. I went back to reception to report the mismatch. Hotel manager Nada Pleić came right away, but first tried to convince me this was the apartment I’d booked. I kept pointing out the difference in size and the depressing view. She said no other rooms were available and she couldn’t fix MY problem. Please be aware that booking a beautiful apartment at «Residence» can one day become YOUR problem. At the same time, Nada told the agency we booked through that we were satisfied and hadn’t complained. I’ve never had such an inhospitable reception at a hotel. On the fourth day we were finally able to move to the apartment we’d booked. It really was great and we thoroughly enjoyed it, but the first three days were lost for good.

We stayed three nights on the fourth floor and had a sea view. The place was clean and pleasant, and the woman at reception was very kind and welcoming. Breakfast was at the Meridian hotel, with a discount for Residence guests. Supermarkets aren’t very close, but I’d still recommend staying here.

My only complaint was one noisy night. That wasn’t an issue with the residence itself.
