The only decent part was breakfast. It was okay, but the rest of our four nights at Hotel Jona in September were a nightmare. Our room was filthy when we arrived and never got properly cleaned. There was hair on the floor every day, sand everywhere, dirty mirrors and a scaled-up, disgusting shower. There was chewing gum on the sofa, zip-tied curtains, missing bulbs and bedside lamps hanging with exposed wires, which felt unsafe. The toilet sanitation tape was left behind the toilet for three days. We reported everything daily, but nothing was fixed until our last morning. The key cards stopped working every day, the TV had no internet and there was no terrace light. Management said they’d follow up, but never did.

The bed was comfortable, and the upstairs pool had an incredible view. The hotel has a pretty design, sits right beside the beach and serves a good breakfast. Some receptionists were kind, and one let me stay an extra 30 minutes to take a meeting. Housekeeping and restaurant staff were very nice. Getting in and checking in was confusing. The TV didn’t work, the bathtub wouldn’t shut and its jets didn’t work, and the AC barely worked. I was working in the lobby at 2 pm when a receptionist said hi and turned the light off on me.

The staff were friendly, always helpful and around when needed. Breakfast was okay. It’s a clean, nice place, about a 20-minute bus ride from central Split, Croatia. Bakeries and shops are within five minutes, and there are restaurants along the beach.

The best thing here is being a minute’s walk from the beach. The price is only just worth it for that, and the place is about 25 minutes from Split, with an Uber ride costing around €35. Otherwise, I’d go elsewhere if you can. The AC barely worked in the heat, and they only provided a small sheet for a blanket. The TV didn’t work either. The shower drained very slowly, and the broken shower rod and head meant I had to bend down to wash. Jona is next to the San Antonio hotel and behind the Jona hotel. Check-in is at the main San Antonio hotel, but there are no signs explaining that. We wandered around trying to find the desk. I only thought to check the main hotel because I’d read the reviews.

Reception is in Hotel San Antonio. There’s free parking on the side and across the road. The room was clean and well equipped, and beach access is free, with a couch and cushion and a great view. The only drawback was that the cocktails at the beach area were below average.
