A lovely spot close to the sea, with lovely people and an amazing breakfast included.

The sea is only about 150 meters from Pansion Casa, down a slope. The water was clear, and the bay had a concrete surface with some gravel. We’d used Google Maps to find a bay that wasn’t too overgrown with seaweed or eelgrass, and this one suited us. If you’re used to Croatia, you’ll know water shoes are useful because the rocky bottom can be sharp in places. Bus line 60 is the only direct route to Split, or to Ravnici in the other direction, so it’s usually packed. One tip: a ticket from the driver costs €3.50 and is valid for 75 minutes in one direction after activation. The vending machines charged only €1.25 as of 2024. We felt completely at ease at the guesthouse and were sad our holiday went by so quickly. Everyone was welcoming and did their best to make the stay enjoyable. There’s no set night closing time, so guests can come and go freely. Mila, the owner, runs the place with her son and daughter-in-law, who also live in the house. Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the sea, and the omelets are delicious. They’re happy to accommodate dietary restrictions and other needs. Mila speaks Croatian and German, and some English; we’d discussed the location with her before arriving. Upstairs are four spacious rooms, each with a 160 cm bed, mini-fridge, private balcony, air conditioning, heating, a table and chairs, and a shower. Some rooms are wheelchair accessible. One has a sloping ceiling and a small kitchenette. The rooms are all modern, bright, tasteful without being ostentatious, and very clean. Mattresses have extra protection, towels are provided, and fresh ones are available if requested. There are curtains, drapes, and blinds on the windows. Laundry can be left for a small fee. We booked through Booking.com ten months ahead for our first visit. We wanted somewhere just outside Split with direct beach access and no paid sun loungers. Press reports had mentioned hotel evacuations, travel warnings, and several fires around Split in August during a prolonged heat wave. Thank you for the hospitality, dear Mila and family!

The room was very clean, roomy enough for me, and had air conditioning. It was cleaned daily or every other day. It’s close to the sea and a beautiful beach. I only missed having a kettle, though I never asked whether I could get one. The staff were friendly, the owner spoke German fluently so it was easy to communicate, and breakfast was excellent. The lady made us a delicious, filling omelet every day. The owner also gave us good directions to the city. I recommend staying here.
