Holiday Home Rita

Our July 2023 stay was absolutely awful. We were treated as if we were 15, even though we were 21-25, and the hostess kept checking on us and watching while we unpacked, asking what our things were. It made us feel uneasy and invaded. She also said the men would make decisions and lead, while the girls should clean and tidy, which made us very uncomfortable. We were the quietest guests there, yet woke up to screaming children each day. We were told there was a working washing machine and packed accordingly, but its plug had been cut and it wasn't set up, so we had to wash our clothes by hand in the bathtub. The kitchen was so dirty, with stains on all the plates and cutlery, that we had to wash everything before eating. The hostess insisted one of us sleep on an unextended sofa, saying she was small enough to fit. She tried to make me put the soft bed cover I brought for comfortable sleep, which I need because of back problems, back in the car. She said I didn't need it. She also spoke Croatian, despite us being told the hosts spoke English. She kept talking when it was clear we didn't fully understand, then got frustrated when we couldn't answer. Absolutely horrible stay, with unbelievable disrespect and intrusion into our personal space.

This was the worst vacation I've had, and I felt I had to write about it because the owner responds to one-star reviews with lies. The plates were filthy, and the washing machine and laundry rack were broken. The hostess was sexist, judgmental, rude, and noisy, and tried to stop us from sleeping on a bed cover to make ourselves more comfortable. English was advertised, but she never spoke it. She also tried to shortchange us when we paid, not returning the right amount and waiting to see if I noticed. I attached photos of the dirty plates and broken washing machine. The owner now blames us for the broken equipment in their response, which says enough to me about their character and professionalism. Avoid this place at all costs.

Apartment no. 4 had plenty of room for two adults and three kids. It was clean and had everything we needed. The host lives in the house, but that didn't bother us. Big supermarkets are just around the corner. The old town is about a 35-minute walk, and the beaches are a bit farther. I highly recommend Rita apartments.

It's a bit of a hidden gem. We had trouble finding the place at first, but once we did, the route made sense, and there was plenty of parking. My family and I stayed for seven days in a great apartment with two spacious bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, just the right size for what we needed. The owners were super friendly. Rita speaks German, and her son Elvis speaks great English. They even gave us a gift. They also have a couple of bicycles you can use for free. The old town is a five-minute drive, and the beaches, grocery stores, and Aquacolors aqua park are easy to reach by car, with the park only 10-15 minutes away.
