Hotel Albatros Plava Laguna

The rooms were great and cleaned every day, and overall it was a nice stay. The food had enough variety and was okay, but everything seemed soaked in oil, which made it hard to digest and not athlete friendly. One day my companion and I both slipped on the stairs. There was no sign saying they’d just been cleaned, and the cleaning lady was shocked but tried to blame us for not being careful. Luckily neither of us got hurt.

We were disappointed by the food, which has noticeably worsened since our visit three years ago, even at the gala dinner. The entertainment was weaker too, and friends and family who regularly stay at Plava Laguna said they’d noticed Hotel Albatros slipping as well. The rooms feel worn and need renovation: the pillows were so poor the housekeeper apologized, and the shower head needs replacing. A sea-view booking didn’t mean we could actually see the sea. A park-side room might have been quieter and more pleasant. The staff remain very friendly and helpful, and the housekeeper did her best for us. We’d been looking forward to returning, but the overall standard no longer feels like a four-star hotel. Quality seems to have dropped a lot in recent years, which is disappointing at this price. We’d love to come back if the standards match the cost and rating again.

The beach is rocky rather than sandy, but the water is clear and clean, and we still had fun in the sea. The hotel sits within the Plava resort, with other two- and three-star hotels and a five-star campsite just a 2-5 minute walk away. The grounds, location, and staff all deserve five stars. Reception, restaurant, snack bar, and kids activity room staff were outstanding, professional, and focused on guests. There were lots of elderly guests during our stay, which didn’t bother my family at all. Our suite was a bit small by four-star standards, though fine for us and one child. It had no basic items like a coffee machine, kettle, cups, or glasses. The toilet in room F343 had such low flush pressure it couldn’t clear even a small piece of toilet paper. We used the main toilet by the restaurant instead. I reported it to reception, but the service staff said they couldn’t fix it, which made things uncomfortable for my family throughout the holiday. That’s why I’d give the room three stars and the overall stay four. The larger parking lot was about 150-200 metres from the main building, on soft soil that gets muddy in rain. It costs less than €3 a day. I’d rate it two stars as it is, but four if management paved it. For a family with two kids, I’d recommend the suite with a separate seating area and bedroom. The sofa bed in the seating area was comfortable and can sleep two kids.

We stayed three days and are already planning to return next year. The view was wonderful, the rooms were clean, and the service was great.
