The staff were friendly, but the place fell well short of what I expect from Istrian campsites. The reception, parks, promenade, and mobile homes have all been nicely renovated, and the homes give camping in Croatia a whole new feel. The pitches are muddy, though, except for the pebbled area in the first row by the sea. The sanitary blocks are old and limited, so from a seafront pitch you have quite a walk to the toilet or shower. There’s also a group of wild boars roaming around camp, which isn’t a great sight at night. Bring a fishing rod or a toy gun.

The restaurant was awful. The food was bland, overcooked, and barely edible, the tables were sticky, the serving areas were messy, and the staff seemed uninterested. The menu didn’t match what was advertised, and we were worried about getting sick just trying to have breakfast there. We also never felt safe or comfortable in the campsite. Dogs wandered loose, even by the water in areas marked as off limits to them, and staff did nothing. Noise rules seemed to count for nothing either. Local teenagers were allowed in at night for a disco, so there was no peace. The secondary bathrooms were filthy and smelly, had no soap, and clearly weren’t cleaned regularly. We’d paid for a pitch advertised as “luxury,” but it was run-down and uncomfortable, nothing like the photos or description. The site calls itself four-star, though the facilities seemed closer to two-star. The toilets looked decades old, smelled disgusting, and showed no sign of maintenance. Men and women used the same facilities without any restriction, with no privacy or separation. When we switched to a cheaper pitch, they refused to return the difference. Staff were careless and no help at all.
The location worked really well for us, with the beach only a short walk away, and our mobile home had a lovely terrace for evenings. It was modern, clean, and well equipped. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and fresh towels arrived every two days, which made the stay easier. There’s a lot to do around Camping Kažela, from jet skiing, paddleboarding, bike rentals, and beach volleyball to cycling on the scenic routes nearby. We also liked the little tourist train that runs through the campsite. It’s fun, and useful if you’re staying farther from the center or have kids with you. The campsite is spacious and well organized, with a bakery for morning bread and pastries, restaurants, bars, several pools, and well-stocked shops. The sanitary facilities were modern and stayed clean throughout the day. We didn’t find ourselves lacking anything. The atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly, with room to unwind and plenty of activities when we wanted them. Staff were polite and helpful, and check-in and check-out were quick and easy. We had a great stay, beyond what we expected. Camping Kažela brings together nature, comfort, and good service, and we’d happily return. It’s a great choice for a seaside holiday in Istria, whether you’re traveling as a couple, with friends, or with family.
The service was awful, it was expensive, and the whole visit was a bad experience. We’d been driving for 12 hours, then had to wait another three hours to check in. After that, we spent an hour trying to find our campsite on our own. The staff didn’t take me seriously and even got angry because I didn’t understand something in Croatian.
We booked a “premium” spot in the first row by the sea at Grand Kažela, expecting a better standard, but the area was badly maintained and hard to reach. The paths were uneven, with loose stones and pebbles instead of proper paving, and we couldn’t get straight from the pitch to the water. The reception looked modern and cared for, but the rest of the campsite didn’t match it. After we moved to a cheaper pitch, they said they wouldn’t refund the difference. They actually charged us more, saying the campsite’s prices differ from those listed on the official website. We spent several days there recently, and came away very disappointed.
