Villa Antonio

The setting is amazing, and the pool view is beautiful. Breakfast tasted good, though the coffee was only so-so and they don't have a coffee machine. The staff were nice and even offered us a free liqueur tasting, and the drinks were very good. Later, though, they got too familiar and it became awkward. The apartment was spacious, but smaller than it was meant to be and quite different from the pictures on Booking app. There was no fridge, and when we arrived there wasn't even toilet paper. We had to ask the cleaning staff several times to clean the room or bring more paper. We also couldn't get an extra sunbed despite asking. Checkout was the worst part. The owner told us rather rudely that we had to pay the city tax, which we hadn't been told about on Booking. We later found out we should have paid it at check-in, not checkout after we'd spent our holiday money. The building looks like five stars, staff t-shirts say four, and Booking App says three ;). It could be a really great place with some improvements.

The owner is making an unreasonable accusation against clients who stayed there and left an honest one-star review, claiming they damaged the property. He reported it to Booking, and Booking passed the claim on to the clients. No damage was done, and the accommodation already had terrible conditions, along with an inappropriate attitude from the owner. I don't recommend staying at this “villa”!

We were due to spend two nights here, but when we arrived at around 8pm, the owner had given away our room. The three of us, including our six-month-old, were put in a double instead of the triple room we'd booked. We had to move furniture onto the balcony to fit the baby's bed, leaving us with barely any space to do anything but sleep. At one point the owner suggested we find somewhere else for the night, and said maybe he'd have our booked room available the following night. The first room was fine and had a nice view and balcony that we could enjoy in the morning, but the bathroom needed updating, with grout or something to cover some mold spots. The next day the owner did what he could to make things right. He treated us to dinner, wine, and grappa. The buffet was quite good, especially the fish, pulled pork stew, and vegetables. The triple room we had booked was clean and nice, with a newly renovated bathroom. Its sheer curtains looked pretty but let in all the light, so getting the baby to sleep was hard. The pool was very clean, and the view was breathtaking. The villa is fun and pretty, though disorganized and in need of a good dusting to clear away some cobwebs. Apart from the check-in mix-up, we'd stay again on a future vacation.
