Premantura Resort - Hotel & Restaurant

It’s a quiet spot away from the beaten path, with spacious rooms. You can stay within the resort and find everything you need onsite, including a restaurant, sauna, pool, and nearby beach.

New Year's Eve was a terrible experience. The event was badly organized, and the space was freezing. Management took no responsibility for what happened. Avoid it!

Everything was very clean and tidy, which matters most to me. Premantura Resort is small and family-run, with a relaxed, friendly, laid-back feel. The location is excellent, looking out over greenery and the sea. The nearby forest does mean mosquitoes, so bring something to keep them away. Our room was well maintained and practically equipped with what we needed, even though it wasn’t new or trendy. The pool is seawater and a good size for hotel guests. There was always a free sunbed and umbrella, or a lounge chair for a cocktail, and tables by the pool if you wanted to eat after a swim. The restaurant has glass walls apart from a few tables right by the pool, so it feels airy rather than stuffy or crowded. The views of nature are relaxing, and you can hear crickets in the evening. We had half board and were happy with it. Breakfast was very good, with eggs prepared at least three ways, fresh and grilled vegetables, fried zucchini and eggplants, cheeses, cold cuts, sausages, juices, coffee from a machine, fruit, and more. I’d have liked a bigger bread selection: there were two or three kinds of rolls but no regular bread. Rolls aren’t as handy for spreads, and sliced bread is easier, especially for kids. You can ask, though, and they’ll get you what you need. Dinner came in four courses, with a choice of meat or fish menus, and the food was tasty. Of six dinners, there was one course we weren’t happy with, though the rest of that meal was fine. Another time we waited a long while because it was a holiday and the restaurant was full, as it was the only one open in town. Twice we were given sparkling wine with dinner. It wasn’t a big thing, but it was a nice touch. There was no need to leave the hotel for lunch if we didn’t want to: they offer around ten dishes at very affordable prices, as well as à la carte options. They take pride in regional products, including Aura brand spirits and liqueurs, gin, and Istrian wines, though those aren’t exclusive. There’s also a freezer stocked with Ledo ice cream, which was a big plus after our experience last year with salmonella at Hotel Vespera. I don’t smoke, but noticed they offer some cigars too. Happy hour covers about ten cocktails, with a buy-one-get-one-free deal. Prices are generally reasonable: cocktails €7, beer €4, espresso €1.60. The wellness area is small but suits the hotel, and it was clean and pleasant. The Turkish and Finnish saunas are a decent size, with a jacuzzi, regular showers, bucket showers, and loungers. It’s free for hotel guests, but you need to book ahead, apparently to prevent crowds. That worked well for me: I spent two hours there alone. Some relaxing background music might be nice, though the silence was lovely for resting. They don’t offer massages. Most of the staff are from abroad, but there’s always someone available to step in, and the hosts are around most of the time. You can see that they care; sometimes they even pitch in themselves, especially the older generation. We’re a couple with a small child, and it was a great stay. We’d happily come back in high season. If you’re after a pleasant, family-friendly holiday with normal prices and a relaxing atmosphere, Premantura Resort is a good choice and highly recommended. As the English say, it’s “value for money.” What makes a good holiday depends on what you’re looking for.

The setting is lovely, though the waiters seem unsure of what they're doing. Service tends to be better in the winter.
