Damjanovi Blato in Blato

The private beach is easy to reach, and the sea is great for paddleboarding, especially in the morning through midday. There are sea urchins, just not right where you enter the water. We had a great time here. The house isn’t new, but it’s very well maintained. The pool is lovely and deep enough that an adult can just about stand upright, and it gets cleaned about every three days. The garden is watered too. The kitchen is fairly basic, and with nine of us it sometimes felt cramped. Bring insect repellent and something for wasps. The owner is friendly and has a cute dog. Some cats, probably strays, came by regularly, but they were very tame. The views are fantastic, both at sunrise and sunset.

The hosts were lovely and speak both Croatian and English, so we’d be happy to return. The place has a beautiful view of the sea, and the beach is spacious and comfortable. There are two big terraces. The upper balcony has a gate with small pillars, which worked well for toddlers. The rooms are a comfortable size, and a travel cot fits in one. The furnishings have a typical Croatian feel, with modern touches like a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, and a washing machine.

The pool and the view were great, and so were the hosts. We had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend it, though a few things in the house still need attention. The air conditioning in one room wasn’t enough, especially with the extra charge.
