The sea is the standout here: there’s a well-kept beach right below the apartments, the water looks crystal clear, and the view from the room is stunning. The sea is close, and the apartment itself is decent enough. The furniture isn’t new, but it’s in good condition; the kitchen has the essentials, and the bathroom has modern plumbing and tiles. Still, for the high price, I expected more comfort and attention to detail. The overall standard felt below what I’d expect for the money, though that seems typical of many places in Croatia. There are too many unfinished details. There’s no kitchen hood, just a loose wire from the ceiling, so cooking would leave smells throughout the living room. The bathroom has no outlet, and the lighting is weak. The cabinet has no backlighting, with a wire sticking out above it, which made doing makeup nearly impossible. After I asked, they gave us an extension cord, but it had to be plugged in out in the corridor, so the bathroom door couldn’t shut. The bathroom drain kept clogging, and I had to clear it myself three times. Breakfast is offered, but it’s expensive and the choice is very limited. They’ll make an omelet, and there are a few snacks to choose from. The location is very remote, with nowhere nearby to buy water, ice cream, or bread. You have to get those in the city, buy everything ahead of time, and keep it in the good-sized fridge. In the evening, though, there’s a pleasant walk along a picturesque waterfront to a café about two kilometers away. I also suspect the houses may be dumping wastewater into the sea. When the weather was calm, there was a clear sewage smell. Once, we accidentally swallowed seawater and the whole family had severe stomach problems. That’s never happened to us at other resorts or seas. We won’t come back here, or to Croatia in general. At this price, Spain offers a much better holiday, maybe one and a half to two times better.
