Ribarska Koliba Resort

The hotel’s location is great, there’s plenty of parking, breakfast was good, and the rooms were nice and clean. But they charged me 40 euros for a sheet that ripped as soon as I sat on it. It had been stretched over two beds pushed together, and it was so thin you could see through it. I felt the charge was a money grab. Be careful.

We ate at the restaurant on site twice because the food was so good and reasonably priced. An Aperol spritz was 8€. We were in Croatia for our honeymoon and stayed here for five nights. They kindly upgraded us to the “Fuoco 1” apartment, which was spotless and spacious, with a fantastic marina view from the private balcony. The staff were friendly and helped when my wife needed medical attention for an infected insect bite, directing us to the tourist hospital. We’d love to come back for a future anniversary.

The pool and the area around it were excellent, clean, tidy, and well looked after. At reception, we got a warm welcome and check-in was easy. We’d booked a room with a balcony and breakfast. The room was small but had a huge balcony. It looked nicely decorated and generally clean, with a tidy bathroom and vacuumed floors, though there was a lot of limescale in the bathroom and the terrace had layers of what looked like stuck-on dust. The fridge was a tiny Red Bull-style minibar that held only three cans. Breakfast was in a pleasant setting but modest for a four-star hotel: three kinds of eggs, two vegetables, two breads, a few spreads, basic cold cuts, water from one jug, and two juices. The breakfast service was noticeably worse than the friendly reception. For this price, I think an apartment complex would be better value, with a similar or better standard. This didn’t meet my expectations of a real four-star stay.

We took a taxi into Pula, about a six-minute drive, and it was easy and smooth. The hotel is away from the busy centre, with a lovely marina view and a quiet, relaxing feel. Our room was clean and spacious, and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was included and lovely, and the pool had jets and plenty of sunbeds. We stayed a week and wished we’d booked longer.
