Sun City Boutique Rooms

Awful! We arrived last week and left straight away without checking in. The place was surrounded by horrible buildings covered in graffiti, the pool was full of dirty water, and the whole place stank. They refused to refund us. We'd only booked the day before, so it's not as if we'd caused the company booking problems. I strongly advise against booking this so-called hotel. Shocking place and service! 😡

The room had a horrible smell, with signs of smoking and rotten odors coming from the bathroom drain. There were ants and cockroaches inside. The bed felt fragile, the pool was small and the water wasn't clear, and the internet was out for several days. The room wasn't cleaned in the mornings as promised, or as you'd expect from a three-star “boutique” hotel. Cars rumbled past less than a meter from the only tiny window, about 35 by 50 cm. It was closed, but the noise went on day and night and made it very hard to sleep. The airport ride cost 75 kunas (€10), while Uber was much cheaper at the time, 38 kunas. I told the receptionist and owner, Maja, about the noise and asked if anything could be done, since you'd expect to be able to sleep even in a one-star hotel. She joked that the solution was not to book an Economy room at their boutique hotel. She suggested paying to move to another hotel they manage. After I described all the issues, I asked for a discount on the new price, which was 50% more than what I had paid five months before arrival. She accused me of making it up and told me I could leave right then, at 9 PM. She even claimed she didn't know about cockroaches at her hotel, although several people had reported them in at least the previous couple of months. She also blamed me for not notifying her in the middle of the night. Nobody cleaned the room during our seven-day stay, even though the hotel's page says cleaning is daily. The owner said it could be done daily for an extra charge, and that cleaning every three days was included in the price. In the end, it wasn't cleaned once all week.

We had to cancel our vacation because of Covid-19 and were promised a voucher. We were told to wait a while for it, but nothing ever came, and the property stopped responding to us and to Booking. Stay away from this apartment, the owner is extremely dubious. Do not book, it's a rip-off!

There's no breakfast, and it's €70-80 for one big room, but it's well worth it. The City is five minutes away and the Bus Station takes 10 minutes to reach. There's a swimming pool, and you can have a BBQ there too if you want.
