San Marino Sunny Resort by Valamar - Plaza Sunny

Thanks to Tino telephone hotel’s staff for helping us with the booking and taking our wishes into account. I hope the rest of the holiday goes as smoothly as that phone call. I'll share how it went at the end of summer 2026. 😊

The hotel staff were really professional, kind, and helpful. The location is another plus: it's near a long sandy beach with plenty of shade, and it's great for a holiday with small children. The renovated rooms at hotel Plaza are nice, and some have a very good sea view. A double room is fine for a couple, but feels cramped with a child. The walls are thin enough that you can hear other guests stomping around in their rooms. The food was horrible. On a better day it was like a student cafeteria, and on a worse one, like prison food. It was so bad I considered giving the hotel two stars overall, though the location made up for some of it. If food matters to you, I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We felt safe around the resort throughout the day and into the evening, and having breakfast and dinner included made it easy to spend our days enjoying the many beautiful nearby beaches. It's a spacious, well-kept place that works for families or groups of friends of any size. With the Adriatic coast's rugged scenery, Lopar nearby, a lively marina, and plenty of activities and excursions, San Marino Resort has lots to offer if you're after a relaxed but lively holiday that feels like a home away from home. I'd definitely return if I get the chance!

The hotel itself was okay, but I was disappointed by so-called Paradise Beach. People can pitch tents in front of the paid sunbeds, blocking the view of the sea. They also dig large holes in the sand, and nobody seems to fill them back in, either in the evening or early in the morning.
