Girandella Family

There was a smell of cigarettes everywhere, and people smoked close to the main children's play area. I also had food safety concerns after finding sharp shards in my food. The spa service was far from professional.

A superiority complex.

The resort is pretty, and the little cove right by the sea is lovely. Kids have good entertainment and facilities, though adults don't have much to do. Some evening music would be nice, especially when older kids are playing on their own in the play areas. We didn't really understand the all-inclusive setup. We're used to more upscale all-inclusive resorts in Greece with table service. At Girandella, you generally pour your own drinks, and the same drinks weren't free at every bar. In the evening we had to go to the neighboring hotel for an Aperol Spritz, while guests from neighboring hotels seemed able to use our children's facilities and we couldn't use the Maro Pool. At some other bars, even water cost extra. The Girandella Family pool seems aimed more at babies and toddlers. We were told ice cream would be available at the children's hotel, but it was only served with meals in the restaurant. The food was good and fresh, but missing something. Twice, the chicken was still raw inside. The restaurant furniture is a mixed collection, and some of it is worn.

Everything is organized, clean, and caters to every need. The staff are extremely friendly, and being able to bring our four-legged friend, our child, was fantastic. The buffet is the one letdown. We're not keen on the food: sometimes it's very bland, sometimes salty, and the ingredients aren't excellent. Would I come back? Of course, but I wouldn't book the half-board buffet again.
