MASLINICA Narcis Hotel

The elevators were tiny and slow, and with so many guests they were nearly useless. Inside the room, the bed was very uncomfortable, there was only one power socket, and a foul smell came from the bathroom each night. Cleanliness was poor too, with a dirty bathtub and walls, and sometimes there weren't any clean towels available. The air conditioning barely worked, so it was almost always hot, which was especially bad in summer. Food options were limited, particularly for anyone who doesn't eat meat, and the plates and glasses were so dirty we had to pick carefully. This place doesn't deserve its four stars. I'd look for somewhere else.

The ceiling came down in the middle of the night while I was there with my two small children. When we asked about the broken air conditioner that had caused it, staff handed us towels to catch the water so the floor wouldn't get wet. Earlier, we had paid for a nice room with a balcony but were put in a basement room that felt like a prison cell. After arguing, we were moved, only to find short, curly hairs that clearly weren't ours. This was supposed to be a dream vacation, but it felt like a survival show. The first room was filthy, and the ceiling collapse made the place feel dangerous. I can't recommend it.

The wellness area is lovely and new, and the all-inclusive food and drinks were good throughout the day. Breakfast pastries were perfect, and the staff were helpful. The hotel is older but well kept. The air conditioning wasn't working properly in some rooms, but staff helped us move to a better room where it worked well.

I checked with the property after seeing that dogs were allowed without an extra charge, and was then told there'd be a €20 daily fee. That felt misleading and like a hidden cost, so I cancelled straight away. I'm not comfortable being misled like that.
