Apartments Villa Bare

We were there in September, when it was 14 °C outside, and the room was freezing, especially the floor. It may have been poorly insulated and unused for weeks. The AC only ran with the keychain in place and all the windows and doors shut, and there was no remote to adjust the temperature. Even after leaving it on all night, the room stayed cold. Keeping everything closed also raises the CO2 levels, which doesn't feel healthy. Maybe it's fine in the hot summer, but for us it was an unpleasant stay.

There was no hot water in the morning, so we couldn't shower or do the dishes. We looked for someone on site, but nobody was around, and when I called the owner, the conversation was shockingly rude. She asked whether we'd switched off the boiler, which we hadn't, then said the lack of hot water was our fault because we should have called before going to bed. I asked whether she could do anything, perhaps refund part of what we'd paid for an apartment with hot water, but she got irritated. I felt awful afterward and regretted staying. We'd called during the day to book for that night, but when we arrived the place was empty and we waited a while after calling to check in. We didn't see anyone there for the rest of our stay. The apartment was passable at best and needed maintenance and a better clean. Part of the bed was broken and the room smelled a little of smoke. We were tired and unwell when we arrived in the evening, so we went to bed anyway. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

The owner's response to my review is full of lies, and I stand by everything I wrote. Terrible service, fake reviews, and a bad attitude. Avoid this place if you can. We called ahead, but found an empty apartment when we arrived and had to wait in the parking lot after calling the owner. The room smelled of smoke. We were tired and feeling unwell, so we stayed anyway. Then we found the bed's headboard was broken, and in the morning there was no hot running water for a shower. The boiler was on and had been on since we got there, but the owner had a horrible attitude and said it was probably our fault, perhaps we'd turned it off. She said we should have called the night before and that she couldn't do anything now that we'd already slept there. No help, no partial refund, nothing. The owner was only reachable by phone, the service was awful, and the place needs maintenance.

We paid about 45 euro for the apartment. The bed and balcony were the things we liked most, and the host was really kind. It was fine overall, though the cleaning and a few repairs could be better.
