Happy Hostel

The location was excellent, and I was very happy with my stay. The owner called to offer me a private room at a nearby location for the same price, since the hostel had only men staying and he wanted me to feel safe. The room was tidy and had everything I needed, including a comfortable bed, small kitchen, and bathroom.

The owner really cares about guests feeling comfortable and happy, and the hostel was very welcoming. There's a good kitchen and a nice balcony overlooking a lively street. It's right in the heart of Rijeka, with major beaches a 25-minute walk away. I absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting this wonderful city.

There are nine beds in one very small room, and there's no common area. The kitchenware is very limited. One bed is a mattress in a pull-out drawer, which seems made just for sleeping. On the bright side, the women helped me carry my bike upstairs.

This isn't the biggest or fanciest hostel, but it's charming and very well maintained. The owner, an older man about my age, was paternal in the best way and took great care of everyone. He even suggested I wait a bit before leaving this morning after checking the weather forecast on his phone. He was right. The bed was very comfortable and the A/C worked perfectly. I didn't use the kitchen, but it works well for hostel guests. The location is excellent, on Rijeka’s mall by the wharf. I found the hostel at the last minute on Booking.com after bad weather yesterday sent me on an unplanned detour to Rijeka during my solo bicycle trip along the Istrian Coast. I'm so glad I found it.
