Hostel Dharma

The location made it easy to enjoy both the coastline and the historic town centre. The rooms were bright, comfortable, and spotlessly clean, a lovely place to unwind after exploring Rijeka, and the prices were affordable. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional throughout my stay, from check-in to check-out. They were always ready with helpful tips about the city and nearby area. Dharma Hostel is a great fit for a short visit or a longer trip.

The rooms are newly renovated and clean, and it’s a lovely place to relax. The staff were so helpful: when I left my earrings behind after checkout, they didn’t keep them and even helped send them to my home country. They’re always ready to help if you have questions.

I stayed in a clean, comfortable private room, and the place was calm. The breakfast was tasty, though vegetarian, and the morning yoga session lasted an hour and a half with excellent stretching. The beaches are cosy and only five minutes away, and having private parking was very convenient. The staff were professional, flexible, and willing to discuss things. My one downside was that breakfast had no meat, fish, or even eggs. Nearby restaurants have excellent fish dishes, though, which filled that gap. I’d highly recommend staying here!

The atmosphere felt deeply odd to us, with sterile hallways and strange smells. The rules were bizarre: no food or drinks in the room, no washing cloth, and the impression was that you were renting a bed rather than a room. It was creepy, and we saw guests, or cult members, cleaning the front yard. We wouldn’t return. Our room was in a separate wing, cut off from reception by a locked door, so we had to walk through heavy rain to get breakfast. We weren’t offered yoga classes, and there weren’t enough towels. The location wasn’t great either, on a parking lot beside a ruin, in a less than ideal part of the city.
