Holiday home D&D RESIDENCE

Our oldest son calls D&D residence his “happy place” and says he often thinks about coming back. We all loved the house, its peaceful outdoor space, and the beautiful beach and sea. The kids’ playroom was a favorite, and the greenery and Mediterranean plants around the house were lovely too. The hosts are warm, friendly people who made sure we had a great time. We’ll be back soon :)

The house itself is beautiful, and the setting is hard to beat: the view from every room is unique, with plenty of peace and quiet. This was our second stay at D&D Residence, but this time in July the price felt out of proportion to several problems, especially the lack of hospitality and support from the hosts. We had already told them last year that some mosquito nets were missing or broken, but they still hadn’t been replaced. With two small children by the sea, mosquitoes were a real problem. We sometimes couldn’t sleep, and our daughter developed an inflammation on her arm. When we asked if someone could come fix the nets, we were told to move rooms or use spray and plug-in repellents because a repair would cost too much. For a 14-day stay in the luxury segment, that felt unacceptable. Only two of the five rooms had working nets, and there were six of us. The sprays and plug-ins were no help. The blinds in the children’s rooms also didn’t work, for the second year running, which is especially inconvenient with kids. During the second week, on Thursday, a fire broke out near Rogoznica and the power and water went out. Nobody was to blame for the fire, but the outage caused a lot of trouble: food spoiled in the fridge, the toilets couldn’t be used, the baby monitor didn’t work without Wi-Fi, there were no lights, the garage door wouldn’t open so we couldn’t leave, the blinds were stuck, and there was no air conditioning. Neighbors who rent out properties and know locals said power could be out for more than two days, so we considered leaving early. Fortunately, it came back after a day and we stayed. What we missed most was any support from the hosts. Nobody came to help, even after work hours, and no one asked if we needed basics like candles, a gas stove, or water. We had to awkwardly ask for every bit of help ourselves, including a mechanical way to open the gate so we could get food. We got no information, felt as if we were begging, and had to organize everything alone. That’s a lot harder with two small children than when you’re responsible only for yourself. When we asked about a possible refund for leaving early, the refusal was curt. We were told forest fires and related holiday cancellations aren’t covered by insurance. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place with idyllic surroundings and a great view, but it’s very expensive. This time we certainly didn’t feel treated like royalty. Warm, friendly service matters for a good holiday, especially in an emergency. Such a shame.

The villa is beautiful, with a crystal-clear pool and lovely views of the sea. It was all very enjoyable, and we had nothing to complain about. The hosts were kind and helpful. There’s a private entrance to the sea just a short walk away, and they even provide buoys for the boat.

Residence D&D is in a great spot. We loved the villa, pool, views, and the small, well-kept beach. Communication with the owners was excellent, and they were easy to reach whenever we had a question. Highly recommended for a dream holiday!
