A nice place.

The room and shared areas were filthy. Dust and debris covered the stairs and hallway, and the carpet and floor looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. There was hair on the bedside table and beard clippings around the sink. Dust was caked on the ceiling fan, coffee maker and cups, so we didn't use the fan. The shower drain blocked every time. The shared fridge in the hall smelled bad and often had open food and drinks, or plates with partly eaten meals and cutlery. There was no air conditioning, only a fan, but even in the scorching heat that was one of the smaller problems. A nightmare.

Breakfast was included, and the August price was excellent, though there was quite a bit of pushiness. Our room was clean, but the small fan did nothing to cool it, so it felt sticky. Sharing the bathroom meant we were sweating again right after showering, and the boiler sometimes didn't work.

The village center is only a few minutes away on foot, and breakfast was quite decent. The terrace, with its grapevines and fig trees, is lovely. Rooms facing the sea have a wonderful view over Rogoznica Bay and the marina, though it was quieter when the road and harbor weren't right outside the door. The place is rustic and a little dated. Svonko is a true Croatian through and through, and takes care of everything.
