Adriatic Hotel by Maistra Collection

The hotel restaurant was my favorite, even after trying nearby one- and two-star Michelin restaurants. The breakfast was perfect too, and coffee on the porch outside was a lovely way to start the day. The restaurant itself was incredible. The staff were 11/10, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms were spacious, well decorated, and functional, the bed was super comfortable, and the shower had excellent water pressure. The location is genuinely hard to beat. I’ve stayed at most of the world’s top luxury hotels, and this is hands down one of the best. If you’re looking for a hotel in Rovinj, this is the only one you should consider. It’s also a nice perk that you can use the amenities at the other five-star hotel just up the road if you’d like.

We loved the room and the bed, which was comfortable and had a nice waterfront view. The windows opened all the way, too. The hotel is right by the Rovinj waterfront, making it easy to get around. We thought the food and drink were the best on the waterfront: the lamb and mushroom pasta were amazing, and breakfast came from a menu rather than a buffet, with several poached egg choices. It was also one of the few waterfront spots with a great drink menu that included bourbon and whiskey drinks. We loved the bar and restaurant. Service was sometimes slow, though we put that down to our American habit of expecting someone to check on us every five minutes. 😄

We came as a couple to try this hotel, supposedly one of Croatia’s 10 best. After a disastrous first night, here are my first impressions for my 7 million visitors. Sleeping peacefully was impossible, even though that should be a hotel’s main job. The lights all turn on automatically when you enter the room, which is a problem if your partner is asleep. The remote also can’t turn off the TV without lighting up the room, and the bathroom door keeps slamming shut by itself. If you want a quiet night without being woken by light and noise, move on unless you’re alone. You also have to like black, which covers the common areas from floor to ceiling. Still, the staff gave us an excellent welcome and did everything they could to make us comfortable. There were small, tasty touches in the room that helped ease the discomfort, and the room itself was large and comfortable. The owners would have been better off avoiding divisive decor choices and giving free rein to idiotic architects obsessed with art over function.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful, with an amazing view, great staff, and a comfortable room. The food wasn’t great, but there was plenty of it. Lots of restaurants were within walking distance, along with ocean spots that were romantic and fairly private, and tennis courts. It was an amazing experience.
