Apartments Cocaletto

We booked several apartments and paid deposits for a two-week stay, but the summer trip we had planned together was cancelled because of the Corona pandemic. We asked several times for the deposits to be refunded and were repeatedly refused, with the explanation that we could reschedule the bookings.

The worst part for us was the bathroom. It was about 2 square metres, with hair on the floor and mould. Getting into the shower meant stepping over the toilet, and at 1.90 m tall I couldn't sit straight on it without my knees hitting the radiator above. The sink seemed built for shorter people, and it was easy to bump into things. We didn't shower there because it felt too gross. There was even an old, used toothbrush in the cabinet. If you'd forgotten yours, at least that one was still there... ;-) Also, the apartment was extremely noisy from inside. A family with a dog lived upstairs and made a lot of noise until midnight or later, then the dog barked constantly from 8 in the morning. We're young and not fussy, but it stopped feeling like a holiday. We rented the downstairs one-room apartment. There are also two-room units. It looked homely in the pictures and from outside, and even on a first walk through, but a closer look showed there was nowhere to store our things. The closets were filled with the owners' shoes and other belongings. As for cleanliness, we're both blond, but found lots of black hairs on the bathroom floor when we arrived. Other than that, it was more or less okay. The kitchen, furniture, and TV felt a hundred years old. Most things still worked, except the TV. The air conditioner worked really well and cooled the apartment, so perhaps that earned it one extra star. Warm water was only lukewarm and came out in a very weak stream. Many pictures had fallen down and were cracked, and the lamp next to the bed was broken. The apartment is in a small village about 15 minutes from Rovinj. To reach the beach, you have to go through a campsite 2 km away and pay, or drive a bit farther. Would I recommend it? No. Maybe for someone like us who just wanted a cheap place to sleep and had other options for showering. It cost €65 a day, and it wasn't a relaxing stay. The highlight, though, was the owners entering the apartment. We'd forgotten to switch off the air conditioning. When we came home in the evening, it was always off and the curtains were open. After a few days, we realized the nice landlady had been coming in to turn it off because she thought it used too much electricity during the day. That's fair enough, but she never tried to tell us in person. At checkout she also demanded extra money because we'd supposedly never turned the power off. She had ten days to tell us, instead of coming into the apartment. So think it over carefully.

It's a peaceful spot, and you're only minutes from the sea and Rovinj. The apartment is well cared for and still has that new smell. The owner was so kind and welcoming. Highly recommend it!

The accommodation was tidy, and we had secured parking. It's in a quiet but accessible location, and the hosts were welcoming and available whenever needed. We'll definitely be back.
