Apartments Carmelo

A really good place.

The apartment was quiet, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It was small, but the air conditioning and soft, pleasantly scented towels were nice extras. Rovinj's center is an easy walk away, and the city itself is beautiful and well worth seeing. Roberto made us feel welcome straight away. He greeted us in person and gave us a map marked with useful places and addresses. The grapes from his vineyard were sweet and delicious, too. Thanks, Roberto!

We used this quiet apartment as a base for exploring Istria in every direction, and the price felt fair. The harbor, market, and fish market are about a 20-minute downhill walk; Kaufland is a five-minute drive. There is one parking space in the fenced driveway. The landlord lives downstairs, is very friendly, speaks German, and accepts direct bookings. Two smaller apartments are also in the building, one upstairs that could work for a multigenerational trip, and one on the ground floor. Our place was the upper-floor, two-bedroom apartment with a covered balcony, around 90 square meters and sleeping up to four. Both double beds were comfortable, and one bedroom had a large wardrobe. The bathroom had a tub with shower, and the washing machine was a useful bonus. The living room had a corner sofa, cable TV, and the apartment's air conditioner, though the room itself felt rather drab. The kitchen was dated and sparsely equipped, with items supplied in sets of four. There was a four-burner stove and oven, plus a large fridge-freezer, but no dishwasher or salad bowls. A coffee machine could be requested. On the balcony there was a clothes rack, four chairs, and a very small table, about one meter by one meter. It looked onto the garden, with the sea glimmering through the trees. The Wi-Fi was steady, and all the windows had shutters. For fish, Scuba in Rovinj's center is a 20-30 minute walk, while Konoba Jure, serving traditional local food, is two streets away, about ten minutes on foot.

We had a wonderful time, and the landlord was so kind. He shared fresh vegetables from his garden and gave us plenty of suggestions for the city and nearby area. We'd definitely come back!
