Apartments Hinterreiter

Our apartment was comfortable and attractive, with practical places to eat, relax, and sleep, and a host who kept in touch so well. We only wished we’d booked more nights. Of the six places we stayed during five weeks in Croatia in Spring 2022, this was the one we liked best. We’d even plan future trips around whether Hinterreiter Apartments is available. Getting there was easier than we expected in hilly, car-free Rovinj. The walk from the car park took under ten minutes and was only a moderate incline. We had far too much luggage for our six-week trip, but the proprietor suggested asking the main car park attendants to bring it by truck or golf cart. They gave us a time a couple of hours after we arrived, brought everything as promised, and helped my husband carry it up the inside steps. The door code worked, and we got into the apartment as arranged. The apartment had more modern conveniences than we expected, even compared with places in the U.S.: outlets where we needed them, lights with switches at both ends, good Wi-Fi, and a kitchen with a microwave, coffee maker, and what we needed for leftovers or simple meal prep. And the water is right there. You can swim from the back terrace, but we also loved simply hearing the soft waves, feeling the breeze, and seeing the clear Adriatic bottom from inside the apartment. That was especially nice for us, as somewhat lazy sixty-somethings.

We spent five nights here and loved the spot. The sea view is lovely, and the terrace sits right beside the water. It was a great place to have a drink in the evening and watch the sun go down.

You can see the sea from the windows, and the old town is only a few minutes away, so the location looks lovely at first. But raw, untreated sewage flows into the sea on both sides of the apartments, just a few metres away. That makes swimming feel very unhygienic. I think the owner should warn guests about it.

Rovinj’s old town is right outside, and the terrace has lovely views and sunsets. The apartments were very clean, and the host was helpful throughout our stay. I’d gladly recommend the place.
