We had a wonderful stay at this peaceful villa and would love to come back. Maria and Valter were welcoming and helpful throughout, and even left us a bottle of Istrian wine as a parting gift. There was a fruit basket waiting when we arrived, and we could communicate in German, Italian, or Croatian. They were easy to reach by phone and also came by every two or three days to look after the garden. The villa is spacious and in excellent condition, with everything we needed, and it was all clean and well maintained. It has two floors, each with a separate key, though another key for each floor would have been handy when we wanted to do different things. We especially liked the large garden, barbecue area, herb beds, fruit trees, and grapevine pergola. The veranda and balconies were lovely places to spend the evening. There are two washing machines, and the pulley clothesline above the grounds made it easy to dry a lot of laundry quickly. The tap water is safe to drink, too. It’s in Cocaletto, with beautiful views of Rovinj and the surrounding area. The bus stop is nearby, but the timetable isn’t posted at the stops, so you need to check it at the Rovinj bus station. We found having a bike useful, whether rented in Rovinj or brought along. The beach is around a 20-minute walk, and other beaches are about five minutes away by car, usually with parking by the water. The beaches are free and spacious, so it’s possible to find a quiet spot. There are sections that suit dogs and naturists, and a mix of pebbles, flat and steep rocks, and occasional sand. We saw sea urchins and jellyfish only occasionally in June, but swim shoes are still a good idea. The water was clear and a pleasant 20 degrees Celsius. The villa has plenty of brochures about activities, entertainment, and seasonal events, along with cards for a local taxi company. With just a few neighboring houses, the area was very quiet. We relaxed completely and took home memories of a little piece of paradise.
