Getting there without a car is the main challenge, though it can be done. I spent two days here and had a great experience. Up on the mountain, there’s clear air and a lovely view, plus an outdoor private pool and plenty of good meal options at a good price. It’s a peaceful place to relax, even if you only have a little time. I’d recommend it.

It’s popular with people who know the place, so it can get crowded. They’re open on weekends, and calling ahead to reserve is a good idea. On weekdays, they’ll accommodate large groups that book in advance. The food has that homemade, favorite-auntie feel, and the staff are easygoing and help you feel relaxed. One of the best local restaurants around Samobor, with excellent service.

Parking was a nightmare even though the restaurant was only half full. Still, the food was perfect, and the waitress was so friendly and patient with the little kids we had along. It felt like a nice family ran the place. The terrace has a magnificent view, too.

Cash only, so come prepared. The staff are warm, the view is lovely, the toilets are clean, and there’s good food and wine. The restaurant is upstairs with terraces; downstairs is the winery, where house wine costs less. The restaurant doesn’t always have wine on tap, and the bottled option is three times the price. Update, August 2022: the soups are still amazing, with homemade pasta in the beef soup and croutons served with the cream soup. The veal and potatoes were dry, though. The duck is amazing, but the mlinci with it are tossed in sunflower oil instead of duck fat, so they taste bland. Portions are smaller than they used to be.
