Hotel Val

We ate really well, with plenty of food: fish, shellfish, pork, chicken, fruit, vegetables and cakes. My favourite was the sea bream. The hotel also has a nice beach, and guests on an all-inclusive package can use the beach bar. Our room was clean and nice, and the staff were kind and helpful.

For an April 2025 trip, this felt like a place for summer stays. It's right by the sea, spread across several small buildings, with great views, extensive gardens and large dining areas inside and out on the terrace. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was adequate. The hotel is old, though. The rooms were clean and tidy, but the worn furniture made them seem dirty, and the washbasin and bathtub looked ancient. The air conditioning was noisy, while the Wi-Fi was great.

After three days, I can say avoid this place. My friend and I came for a hiking holiday and were having a lovely time until the head waiter made it miserable. There was no drinking water in the room, and no shops open nearby or on site. He scolded me for filling my small 70cl bottle for a hike. I thought he might have mistaken it for fizzy water, but even after I showed him it was plain water, he had another go. He also bartends, and with only about 15 guests there, he knew I don't drink. Being embarrassed over taking water was unbelievable. When we arrived just before the season, nobody mentioned the pool wouldn't be available. That was fine since we came to walk. I asked for a sunbed, and a man said he'd send someone to unlock them. We waited an hour, then I went back to reception and found a different woman there. She didn't apologize for the man not coming to find us, even though it was a two-minute walk, and said she couldn't provide a bed. We also couldn't borrow a cushion or towel to lie on. It was such a simple request, but nobody seemed willing to help. The local food was absolutely delicious, though not really suited to fussy Western children. I don't drink, so can't comment on that. Our room was basic but very clean and comfortable for resting after long hikes. There was no fridge, kettle or supplied water, and the shower was broken. I'd come back to the area, but avoid this hotel with some of its staff. I would take the chefs home with me.

We had a really nice all-inclusive stay with a friend. The food was tasty and the entertainment very good. Our part of this older property had no balcony, but the window opened wide, so we got used to it and didn't feel boxed in. It would have been handy to have tea and coffee facilities in the room, but we managed.
